October 2011 Delegate Report

As I am sitting here writing this article, once again we are coming to the end of another shooting year here in Indiana. The Grand is over and a new target year has already started. I hope everyone achieved their goals of the last target year and are sitting new goals for the current target year.

This is a great time of the year to get in some fall shooting. This also allows us to register some targets before next spring. In Indiana some of the clubs are holding special Fall Shoots. A lot of the clubs will have their Club Championships this time of the year. A lot of work and effort goes into these shoots. Let’s support as many as we can.

This is also a good time to check your equipment. If you need to buy something or get something repaired, now is the time to do so.

There are some new rules for the coming year that were passed during the BOD meeting at the Grand. 1) The ATA Daily Fee will go from $2.00 to $3.00 and the Big 50 will go to a $1.50 fee. 2) In handicap there shall be no more than two yards difference between adjacent shooters in the squad, and no more than a total difference of three yards in a squad. If 18, 19, and 20 yard shooters are in a squad there shall be no more than one yard difference between adjacent shooters in the squad and no more than a total difference of two yards in a squad. 3) New sub-junior shooter- a new male shooter who has not reached his 15th birthday will be assigned a handicap of 19 yards. A new male shooter who has reached his 15th birthday will be assigned a handicap of 20 yards. All additional yardage increases or reductions will be earned. 4) Where terrain allows, a visible stake may be placed on the centerline of the trap on the arc of a circle that has a radius of 50 yards and its center is point B (Point F, Diagram II).

In the Central Zone we voted to move our break point from 90% to 91%. We also voted to move the Great Lakes Grand to the week of the 4th of July for a trial period. Hopefully this will get them out of some bad weather they seem to always have over Memorial Day. The Central Zone also voted to allow each state in the Central Zone to have one gun club that will host the Central Zone Shoot. The Central Zone shoot for next year will be Aug. 3, 4,and 5. For Indiana the Zone will be at St. Joe Conservation Club.
