Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Holidays, a very Merry Christmas as well as a Happy New Year. For many, it’s just a few more months of cold weather here in Indiana to get through and it will be time to get back to shooting trap on a regular basis. Hopefully many shooters have a trip planned to warmer climates to shoot some targets in early 2016.
I know personally the January & February months really seem to drag on and I find myself constantly fighting the boredom and looking forward to the first signs of spring. I challenge you to take this time and think about what your goals are for the 2016 shooting season. Do you want to shoot more? Shoot better? Maybe plan to visit some clubs to shoot at that you have never been to before or at least haven’t been to in a long time? Maybe plan a shooting vacation to hit some new or favorite areas of the country? Also it’s a good time to be thinking about what you can do to make the sport of trapshooting more successful! Give something back, no matter what it is!
Unfortunately it is time for what has immediately established itself as my least liked part of my monthly T&F article…to keep you updated on Indiana shooters that have passed away. Mr. Jack (J.T.) Hughes passed away in late October. Jack was a former ATA All-American and Remington representative, and a member of the Indiana Trapshooting Hall of Fame. We also lost G. Michael Seitz in mid-November. Mike was a former Secretary of the ATA and longtime supporter of the ITA. My condolences to all friends & family of both JT and Mike. Both gentlemen were enormous contributors to the ATA and will be missed.
