I hope everyone had a great year and met their trap-shooting goals. In Indiana, we are almost finished shooting registered targets. Now is the time to think back about the past year and set new goals for the coming year. This is also the time to start thinking about where we are going to shoot next year. I want to encourage everyone to mark their calendars for July 8-13, 2014. This is the date of the Indiana State Shoot. The directors have already been hard at work to make this the best state shoot ever.
The 2014 Indiana Zone Shoots will be held at:
Northern Zone-St. Joe Valley Conservation Club (date not established yet.)
Central Zone-Fall Creek Conservation Club, May10-11, 2014.
Southern Zone-Columbus Gun Club, May24-25, 2014.
Some clubs may hold a preliminary day on Friday. You can contact the club for information. I hope everyone will mark their calendars for these shoots in 2014. The host clubs go to a lot of work to host these shoots and I know they look forward to giving the shooters the best targets possible.
I would like to congratulate the Indiana shooters who made the different ATA All American Teams. They are: Lady II – Mary Lynn Downham; Sub Vet – Devon Harris, Jack Curry, and Garl Gresley; Sub Jr.- Clayton Taylor; Jr.- Brandon Sullivan; Vet- William Tempest; and Sr. Vet- Wayne Downham.
Don’t forget to visit your local clubs. When we get some warm days, drive to the local club and shoot some targets. The local clubs need our support.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, the time to be thankful for all that we have. I also want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The last thing I would like to say for 2013 is that I would like to dedicate the column to all of our trap-shooters in Indiana who have passed away this year. Even though they are no longer here in body, they are still present with us through the people they touched. I would like for the families of these great men and women to know that your loved ones are still remembered by the shooters of Indiana and we are keeping you in our prayers.
